Our Mission
Cleveland Sews is an educational sewing program uplifting the sewn trades in Cleveland. We stitch together Cuyahoga County’s social fabric by empowering community members through skill-building, circular manufacturing, and restorative practices.
Cleveland Sews fuels a sustainable and creative economy rooted in the sewn trades. Through hands-on learning and the transformation of upcycled materials, people gather to sew, repair, design, and create — building confidence, strengthening relationships, and restoring dignity to craft.
Grounded in trauma-informed and restorative principles, we cultivate spaces of safety, trust, collaboration, and choice. Sewing becomes more than a skill — it becomes connection, resilience, and shared momentum.
What happens at the sewing table extends far beyond the classroom. Waste becomes resource. Isolation becomes community. Craft becomes empowerment.
