SEWING FUNDAMENTALS II
Take your sewing skills to the next level with Sewing Fundamentals II—a six-class series focused on stretch fabrics, garment fitting and more advanced construction techniques.
In Part 1, students will learn to operate a home serger, sew confidently with knit fabrics, construct a classic T-shirt. In Part 2, students will build a track jacket using reclaimed banner material. Along the way, we’ll explore garment fitting, pattern adjustments and construction techniques like working with collars, separating zippers, and welt pockets.
This series is designed for graduates of Sewing Fundamentals I or sewists with a strong foundation in basic machine operation, seam construction and commercial sewing patterns.
The complete series provides the most comprehensive learning experience, but classes can be purchased in pairings. Module 1 - Introduction to Sergers may be taken as an individual workshop. If you are interested in taking Introduction to Knits, we highly recommend the Serger Workshop are a pre-cursor. Introduction to Knits is a two-class series and The Upcycled Track Jacket is a three-class pairing.
Pricing includes 3-hours of hands-on instruction, all printed hand-outs, all supplies—including 2 paper patterns you get to keep, pattern paper, fabric swatches, organic cotton + ribbing for tee shirt, and one-of-a-kind commemorative Cleveland banner for upcycled track jacket, interfacing, and separating zipper! We also provide beverages and snacks during class time.
